Things to watch

1. The Ravens are this season’s Lazarus, rising from the depths of 1-5 to win three straight and surge back into Super Bowl contention. They’re the odds-on favorite to win the AFC North, but that will be determined by their four games remaining with division rivals Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

2. The easy analysis is the Ravens turned it around solely because of the return of Lamar Jackson after missing three games with a hamstring injury. The Ravens won their last two games with Jackson back. But they were 1-3 to start the season with Jackson in the lineup. Their lone win was against the Browns.

3. What sacked the Ravens in the first month of the season was a brutal schedule and the worst defensive stretch in their history. Some of it was due to injuries to Pro Bowlers Nnamdi Madubuike, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey. The latter two are back after missing multiple games. Madubuike is out for the year and has been adequately replaced by defensive tackle Travis Jones.

4. Zay Flowers is Jackson’s top receiving target (50 receptions for 625 yards), but tight end Mark Andrews remains Jackson’s go-to guy in the red zone. Andrews has a team-high five touchdowns among his 29 receptions.

Did you know … ?

1. At the age of 28, Jackson is less of a run threat than any time in his eight-year career. His per-game rushing average of 36 yards is a career-low and nearly 40% less than his career average of 58.6. The threat of his running is always there, however, which helps the Ravens maintain their top-five rushing ranking.

2. The Ravens are 3-3 in Jackson’s six starts this year. That’s their worst record in a six-game stretch with Jackson as their starter and merely reduced his career W-L mark to 73-27 (.730) – second among active quarterbacks to Patrick Mahomes’ 94-27 (.776).

3. The Ravens allowed an average of 35 points per game over their first five games. In their last four games, they’ve given up 17 points, 16, 6, and 19.

4. Running back Derrick Henry is on pace for his lowest rushing total in four years. His 4.8-yard average is more than one yard lower than his first season with the Ravens. Though 31, Henry’s drop-off is considered due to lethargic guard play in front of him. Henry had fumbles in his first three games this year, losing two, but has not had one since.

5. Rookie kicker Tyler Loop, the successor to disgraced franchise icon Justin Tucker, is 16 of 18 on field goals. His misses were from 55 and 56 yards.

6. The Ravens are tied for last in the NFL with only 12 sacks. Their leader among active players is linebacker Tavius Robinson with two.
