Hey Tony: Do you think Nick Chubb will play in 2025?
-- Josh, Galena, OH
Hey Josh: Yes, I do. The question is where. Teams will reassess their roster after reviewing their rookie minicamps this weekend. It’s possible Chubb will receive an offer from a team other than the Browns, maybe multiple offers. If not, Chubb could follow the lead of friend and former teammate Kareem Hunt and keep working out until a team loses a running back to injury during training camp or early in the season. Hunt was signed by the Chiefs in Week 3 last season when they needed a back. He rushed for seven TDs in the regular season and added two more in the Chiefs' run to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs re-signed Hunt this season. Imagine Chubb getting such a break. He deserves it.
Hey Tony: The old saying is if you have 2 QB’s, you have no QB’s. How’s the saying go if you have 4 QB’s?
-- Ryan, Phoenix, AZ
Hey Ryan: Consider this a transition year for the Browns at the quarterback position. The trade that netted them Jacksonville’s No. 1 pick in 2026 puts them in position to pursue the 2026 quarterback draft class aggressively if the long-term answer doesn’t surface this year. It’s a reasonable plan. Let’s see it play out.
Hey Tony: If the Browns try to trade one of their veteran QBs (Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett) to give more playing time to their rookie QBs, do you think that will anger the veterans on the team, like Myles Garett, who want to win now?
-- AJ, Avon, OH
Hey AJ: It depends how the rookie QBs look in training camp and preseason. It’s way too early to project what will happen. One thing is for sure: Flacco has a lot of support in the locker room based on what he did for the team in 2023.
Hey Tony: How difficult will it be for the offensive line to adapt to having a left-handed quarterback when you have 3 right-handed quarterbacks?
-- Bill, Las Vegas, NV
Hey Bill: The good news is the Browns’ best offensive tackle, Jack Conklin, would be Dillon Gabriel’s blind-side protector on the right side. Overall, I don’t think it’s a major issue.
Hey Tony: With Nick Harris, Zak Zinter, and Luke Wypler coming off injuries, who do you expect to be on the 53-man roster come September?
-- Mike, Alliance, OH
Hey Mike: Harris is no longer on the Browns’ roster. Zinter and Wypler will compete for roster spots. Can’t project the keepers at this point.
Hey Tony: What is your assessment of both the O-Line and D-Line as they appear today?
-- Sam, Columbus, OH
Hey Sam: The hiring of line coach Mike Bloomgren means the Browns are returning to the zone-blocking scheme instituted by former line coach Bill Callahan, who recommended Bloomgren for the job. For that reason, I think the offensive line could return to be the strongest position group on the team – as long as tackles Dawand Jones and Conklin can stay healthy. The biggest deficiency with the defensive line has been the interior tackle positions. They addressed it by adding veteran Maliek Collins and No. 5 overall draft pick Mason Graham. They also added two veteran edge rushers – Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Julian Okwara -- to the defensive end rotation. So, overall, I think both lines have been improved.
Hey Tony: With Kevin Stefanski back at the helm for play calling do you expect more run plays? Will Quinshon Judkins be your #1 RB over Ford?
-- Mike, Smithville, OH
Hey Mike: Draft picks Judkins and Dylan Sampson should emerge as the new one-two punch. It appears Ford has been demoted to RB3, as evidenced by the pay cut the Browns proposed and he accepted. And, yes, I expect a renewed commitment to the running game and a repudiation of the shotgun-spread offense that failed miserably last year.
Hey Tony: How have you kept your sanity over all these years of suffering? And how do you feel about our QB situation?
-- Mike, Cleveland, OH
Hey Mike: I’ve said it before: Covering the Browns is unlike covering any other professional sports team in Cleveland. There is far more drama and dysfunction and frustration than in any other sports beat. As for the QB situation, you just have to understand that the long-term answer at the position is a year away.
Hey Tony: Has anyone asked Myles Garrett if this is the QB room he was expecting? Is this the plan the Browns gave him?
-- Paul, Brook Park, OH
Hey Paul: I never believed Garrett decided to end his ring-chase because of any QB plan the Browns conveyed to him. It was all about the Benjamins.
Hey Tony: Thanks for keeping your finger on the pulse of Browns news! What are realistic expectations for the Browns this season?
-- Matt, Poughkeepsie, NY
Hey Matt: The four-man QB competition is a unique nuance that will dominate the storyline all season. It will be interesting. At the same time, I would expect to keep eyes focused on quarterback developments in the college football season. My honest opinion is that the final answer to the franchise’s generational search for a long-term quarterback will be playing on the college gridiron this fall.
