Hey Tony: Why won’t the Browns address the JOK situation? Also, are they aware that not signing Nick Chubb sends an awful message to anyone signing with them in the future? The videos he’s posted recently look like his old self. Sign the man already. He’s better than Strong!

-- James, Louisville, OH

Hey James: I am now of the belief that Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will sit out the 2025 season because of his neck injury. I also believe the Browns will defer to JOK to make this announcement. Thus, the Browns are shedding no light on this topic, but the selection of UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger with the 33rd overall pick of the draft tells me the Browns felt JOK’s injury left an urgent need at middle linebacker. As for Chubb, read the answer in a question about him below.

Hey Tony: Of the four QBs how do you see things shaking out? I’m kinda rooting for the underdog – Dillon Gabriel.

-- John, Stow, OH

Hey John: In the immortal words of the great Bud Carson (with sigh), “Who the hell knows?” I don’t know how it ends. How it starts in OTAs, I think, is with reps going this way: 1. Joe Flacco, 2. Kenny Pickett, 3. Dillon Gabriel, 4. Shedeur Sanders. Why that way? Among veterans, deference given to NFL experience. Among rookies, deference given to draft status.

Hey Tony: If we need a roster spot for a 4th QB, which position group would end up getting shorted?

-- Dom, Middleburg Heights, OH

Hey Dom: It’s a good question but impossible to answer at this time. My first guess would be wide receiver because I expect a renewed commitment to the running game and multiple tight end sets.

Hey Tony: I'll be honest, I fear the deck is stacked against Shedeur.  If he wins, it will amount to an indictment on AB and braintrust on QB selection (DW, DTR, D Gabriel). Thoughts?

-- Steve, Port Elgin Ontario

Hey Steve: I’m not sure I understand the question. All I know is Sanders was the fourth QB added to the room and was drafted 50 spots after Gabriel.

Hey Tony: Will anyone in the front office be fired after they win 5-6 games this season?

-- Richard, Columbus, OH

Hey Richard: No. I believe Jimmy Haslam gave Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski a two-year window to lead the franchise out of the Deshaun Watson era.

Hey Tony: In the same way Nico Harrison mishandled the Luka trade, do you think Andrew Berry underestimates the popularity of Nick Chubb to the fan base? I realize the athletes are in two different places in their careers, but the parallels are similar.

-- Ryan, Ashtabula, OH

Hey Ryan: I think Berry understands that Chubb is the most popular player in his era as Browns GM. I also think Berry and the Browns medical staff have an understanding of the challenges Chubb still faces to be a productive running back after his unfortunate injuries.

Hey Tony: I hear Deion and Jimmy are tighter with each other. I don't think Deion will say anything publicly but do you fear him getting into Jimmy's ear behind the scenes, which results in him using his influence on the FO and coaching staff?

-- Tom, Chicago, IL

Hey Tom: Haslam told me that he never met Coach Prime until the Browns traveled to Boulder, CO, for a dinner meeting with Sanders and Travis Hunter, and then the Colorado pro day the next day. Could Coach Prime influence future decision regarding Shedeur? I hope not, but the appearance of it is one reason I did not want the Browns to draft Shedeur.

Hey Tony: Are the browns drunk on drama instead of winning?

-- Damian, Maumee, OH

Hey Damian: Yes.

Hey Tony: How sick and tired are you of Sanders questions?

-- RR, New York, NY

Hey RR: Not yet, but soon. Very soon. I don’t think it’s coincidence that a drama-free quarterback like Joe Flacco produced dramatic results on the field.

Hey Tony: Is there a realistic chance that Shedeur Sanders makes it on to the Browns practice squad this season?

-- AJ, Avon, OH

Hey AJ: That would require the Browns waiving Sanders at the cut to 53, Sanders being unclaimed, and then Sanders agreeing to a practice squad contract. 1. I don’t think the Browns would waive him. Berry has not cut a draft pick after his rookie training camp as GM of Browns. 2. I don’t think Sanders would agree to join the Browns’ practice squad after being cut.

Hey Tony: Did we make a mistake not taking a safety in this draft?

-- Bret, Strongsville, OH

Hey Bret: After Jalen Milroe was taken 92nd overall by the Seahawks, the Browns selected Dillon Gabriel 94th overall. Two spots later the Falcons traded up and drafted Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts. Watts had 13 interceptions the past two seasons; no other FBS player had more than nine. Watts was ranked 54th overall by Dane Brugler of The Athletic. Gabriel was ranked 146th.  Nobody can understad why the Browns over-drafted Gabriel.

Hey Tony: If Deshaun Watson gets paid by insurance in 2025 does his salary come off the books so the team can use the money to pay another player?

-- Joe, Stow, OH

Hey Joe: It is my understanding that the because of the insurance policy the Browns took out on Watson’s 2025 salary, they would receive a salary cap credit of more than $40 million in 2026 if he is not active in 2025 as a result of two Achilles tendon surgeries.
