The Browns are returning to where it all began for them as an expansion franchise – as a participant in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.
They were chosen to make their first appearance in the league’s annual exhibition season lid-lifter since 1999. They will oppose the New York Jets in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on August 3, Thursday night, in the first big event of the 2023 Enshrinement Weekend in Canton.
The pairing of the Browns and Jets was not a surprise because the Hall of Fame has sought to link participants in the game with the induction class. This Hall of Fame Class of 2023 includes Joe Thomas of the Browns and Darrelle Revis and Joe Klecko of the Jets.
It means the Browns and Jets will play an extra fourth exhibition game in preseason.
Tickets for the Browns-Jets game in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8. Check www.profootballhof.com/tickets for more information.
Tickets for the enshrinement ceremony on Saturday, August 5, were previously put on sale and can be found at the same site.
Besides Thomas, Revis and Klecko, the 2023 Class includes Ronde Barber, Don Coryell, Ken Riley, Zach Thomas and DeMarcus Ware.
