We’re into the homestretch of the mock draft season. Only two more furlongs to go.

Barring a trade, which is unlikely, the only things that could affect the Browns’ pick at No. 44 at this point are the signing of a free agent defensive end or wide receiver.

If the Browns get defensive end Jadeveon Clowney under contract before the April 28-30 draft, their first pick trends to wide receiver. If they sign a veteran receiver, the pick trends to edge rusher or defensive tackle.

If they sign neither, either position is possible.

Until further notice, mock draft 4.0 proceeds accordingly.

First round

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: DE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan

2. Detroit Lions: DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon

3. Houston Texans: CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, Cincinnati

4. New York Jets: S Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame

5. New York Giants: OT Ickey Ekwonu, North Carolina State

6. Carolina Panthers: QB Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh

7. New York Giants: DE Travon Walker, Georgia

8. Atlanta Falcons: DE Jermaine Johnson, Florida State

10: New York Jets: DT Jordan Davis, Georgia

11. Washington Commanders: WR Garrett Wilson, Ohio State

12. Minnesota Vikings: CB Derek Stingley, LSU

13. Houston Texans: OT Charles Cross, Mississippi State

If the Browns had not dealt their No. 1 pick in the Deshaun Watson trade, they’d have their choice of any receiver after Wilson.

14. Baltimore Ravens: CB Trent McDuffie, Washington

Secondary is thin behind starters Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters.

15. Philadelphia Eagles: WR Drake London, USC

16. New Orleans Saints: OT Trevor Penning, Northern Iowa

17. Los Angeles Chargers: WR Jameson Williams, Alabama

18. Philadelphia Eagles: LB Devin Lloyd, Utah

19. New Orleans Saints: WR Chris Olave, Ohio State

20. Pittsburgh Steelers: QB Malik Willis, Liberty

Tragic, accidental death of Dwayne Haskins makes quarterback even more likely.

21. New England Patriots: LB Nakobe Dean, Alabama

22. Green Bay Packers: WR Treylon Burks, Arkansas

23. Arizona Cardinals: DE George Karlaftis, Purdue

24. Dallas Cowboys: C Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa

25. Buffalo Bills: CB Andrew Booth, Clemson

26. Tennessee Titans: WR Jahan Dotson, Penn State

27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DT Devante Wyatt, Georgia

28. Green Bay Packers: OL Zion Johnson, Boston College

29. Kansas City Chiefs: DE Boye Mafe, Minnesota

30. Kansas City Chiefs: WR Skyy Moore, Western Michigan

31. Cincinnati Bengals: CB Kaiir Elam, Florida

Use of free agency to bolster offensive line frees up Bengals to add to defense here.

32. Detroit Lions: WR Christian Watson, North Dakota State

Second round

33. Jacksonville Jaguars: OG Kenyon Green, Texas A&M

34. Detroit Lions: QB Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati

35. New York Jets: DE Arnold Ebiketie, Penn State

An athletic and versatile D-lineman who has rush ability from outside or inside.
